Re-elect Dan Lipinski Congressman

Congressman’s Consistent Fight for Jobs and Working Families, Strong Pro-Labor Record Cited

January 10, 2018

U.S. Representative Dan Lipinski (D-IL) today was endorsed by the 900,000 member strong Illinois AFL-CIO in his campaign for reelection in Illinois’ Third Congressional District.

“The choice for working families could not be clearer,” said Terryl Jares, Illinois AFL-CIO Vice President. “Dan Lipinski is a Democrat who embodies our values, fighting to increase the minimum wage, expand parental leave, and protect workers’ rights to organize and bargain.”

Lipinski's lifetime labor scorecard, according to the AFL-CIO, exceeds 90 percent.

The endorsement was highly regarded by Lipinski. “I am honored to once again receive the support of the Illinois AFL-CIO and proud to be recognized as a champion for working families,” he said. “We must continue to fight for the creation of high-quality jobs, better wages, and trade agreements that benefit American workers.”

“Whether it is preserving our social safety net or driving ‘Buy American’ policy, Dan Lipinski has demonstrated that his values are labor values,” said Jorge Ramirez, President of the Chicago Federation of Labor. “As the only Chicago-area member on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives, Dan has delivered on infrastructure and manufacturing investments to Third District communities that spur economic growth and create good paying jobs. We stand with Dan Lipinski and will continue to partner with him to create an economy that works for everyone.”

Lipinski is the most senior Illinois member on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, where he plays a crucial role advancing the region’s economy through infrastructure modernization investments that create and sustain jobs. Lipinski helped lead the fight that killed the job-destroying Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal. He has been a champion of Buy American laws and has been successful in requiring that more products bought with taxpayer dollars are made by American workers. As a result of his American Manufacturing Competitiveness Act, the U.S. is now required to develop a strategy to promote American manufacturing. Lipinski has fought against harmful economic policies that favor the rich and powerful and has prioritized the economic, social, and environmental well-being of his Third District constituents.
