Plan in the Works to Ease Congestion Near Midway
February 9, 2011

If you drive near Midway Airport, you know how traffic can get congested on Cicero Avenue south of the airport.
That's because Cicero is the only spot for miles where drivers can cross railroad tracks south of 67th Street.
Now, Congressman Dan Lipinski tells Don and Roma there's a plan to possibly build a bridge over those tracks at Central Avenue.
"This will be a tremendous help putting people to work to build this bypass and it'll help business and just help make everyone's life a little easier," Lipinski said.
Lipinski says the state Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting about the Central Avenue bypass next Thursday February 17 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at St. Laurence High School in Burbank.
He says $170 million in federal and state funds have already been set aside for the bypass project.
