Hands together for manufacturing
By Cindy Wojdyla Cain, Joliet Herald News
Pulse did a double-take last week when an email sent in by a politician carried a message of bipartisan cooperation in a very partisan Congress. U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Channahon, is helping U.S. Rep. Daniel Lipinski, D-Western Springs, with his American Manufacturing Competitiveness Act of 2012. It looks like the bill will make it out of the Republican-controlled House, which is “nothing short of an Olympic feat,” Lipinski spokesman Nathaniel Zimmer said.
The act would create a bipartisan board that would work on a national strategy to revitalize the manufacturing industry.
“In 10 years we lost one-third of all American manufacturing jobs,” Zimmer said. “You can’t have another decade like that. It would really be a catastrophe.”
