Congressman Dan Lipinski (IL-3) visited Poland this week as part of a bipartisan congressional delegation to discuss security concerns in light of Russian aggression, as well as economic and energy issues of mutual interest to Poland and the United States.  The delegation, led by House Speaker John Boehner, met with President Bronislaw Komorowski, Foreign Minsister Grzegorz Schetyna, and Speaker of the Sejm Ma?gorzata Kidawa-B?o?ska.

“As a proud Polish-American that represents a congressional district that is home to more than 100,000 Polish-Americans, I was honored to be part of this high-level delegation to Poland to strengthen the already-close ties between our two nations,” said Rep. Lipinski.  “We thanked President Komorowski, the Foreign Minister, and the Speaker for Poland being one of America’s closest and most reliable allies, and we assured them of America’s support for Poland in light of Russian aggression.  Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the U.S. has stepped up its military presence in Poland and I support doing more to demonstrate our support for our NATO ally.

“The Polish people have shown a toughness and resiliency throughout history, most recently in being the first nation to break from the grip of the Soviet Union and then quickly building their economy.  I look forward to continuing to work on building our nations’ relationship, including fighting for Poland’s inclusion in the visa waiver program.”

Lipinski is the leader of the Congressional Caucus on Poland.  The Poland Caucus, as it is also known, is a bipartisan group of Members of Congress dedicated to maintaining and strengthening the United States-Poland relationship and to educating others on the political, economic, and security issues facing this region of the world.
